Ferris ISD Students and Parents

Thank you for being a part of our school district.  We look forward to another great year and hope nothing but the best for you and your family during this school year.  Please help us, as a community, to strive to be the best in all we do.  Parents and students must be active members of a school district to make it a success.  We want to be the best and we want you to help us be the best.  Through our combined efforts we will help ensure that your child is ready for college and the work force.

Partnerships help bring about change and progress.  We hope that you, your teacher, your school, and our entire school district can work together to make our students well-rounded, productive citizens.  Our staff looks forward to a great year working with you for your child's success!

Attention Ferris FFA students and parents:

If you have animals you would like to validate through Ferris FFA for state, please make sure you read through the new FFA handbook Mrs. Krueger sent out earlier this week, paying particular attention to the sections on project selection, supervision and MSHPC rules and guidelines before you purchase animals. If you did not receive the updated handbook, please contact Mrs. Krueger at 972-544-3737 or tkrueger@ferrisisd.org, and she will be glad to send you a copy. Dates for state validations are found below:

June 20-21: Steer Validation
June 30: Swine Validation (Ellis County Extension Agents will begin at 6:30 am and go from school to school across the county. They prefer to do this as early as possible while it is still cool so the hogs do not become distressed.)
June 30: Sheep & Goat Validation - 4:30-6:30 at the Expo Center in Waxahachie.

"We are committed to providing a stimulating learning environment. Students in Ferris ISD need to know that they are loved, valued, and appreciated by district leadership and this Council is one way to give voice to their opinions. Being able to talk directly with the kids and hear their first-hand perspective is one of the very best parts of my job."

- Superintendent James Hartman

regarding FISD Student Advisory Council

Mr. McGee will be handling the steer validation process on June 20th. If you plan to validate any animal for State Fair or any other shows, please make direct contact with Mr. McGee to let him know your intentions. Mr. McGee may be reached at 972-544-3737 or ddmcgee@ferrisisd.org.

All FISD Ag Science teachers are happy to help answer any questions you may have regarding the validation process or any other concerns related to the FISD Ag and FFA programs. Please don't hesitate to contact them any time via email at tkrueger@ferrisid.org, skgallow@ferrisisd.org, or ddmcgee@ferrisisd.org.

Thank you for supporting your students and FISD programs!

To the Citizens of Ferris ISD

The Ferris ISD Board of Trustees has called for a Tax Rate Election to be held on June 25, 2016. This election is a “tax swap” in which 13 cents of tax rate will be moved from one category to another without any tax rate increase. This tax swap maximizes state revenue without any tax increase on local taxpayers; generating up to $800,000 in added state funding annually!

Dear Staff,
The State Board of Education is seeking input about the state's current assessments (STAAR and EOC) and current accountability programs. Your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions will help State Legislators, the State Board of Education, and members of the Texas Commission on Next Generation Assessments and Accountability make recommendations for statutory changes to the current system. Ferris ISD encourages all interested constituents to complete the following survey.

The survey is available in English here and in Spanish here. Feel free to share the link to the surveys to encourage widespread participation.

Ferris Independent School District is a Class 4-A school district offering our students a 21st century educational experience in a rural setting. Our school serves over 2,500 students across five campuses and provides a close-knit, small town atmosphere that is perfect for families. Ferris is centrally located in northern Ellis County only 20 miles south of Dallas on Interstate 45.  Easy access to all the entertainment, shopping, and cultural activities the DFW Metroplex has to offer is just one of many reasons to educate your children in Ferris ISD.
