Homeschool & Private School Parents

Child Find

The Special Education Program in Ferris ISD is ready, willing, and able to serve all eligible students. All children with disabilities residing in the State, regardless of the severity of their disabilities, and who are in need of special education and related services, must be identified, located, and evaluated. This includes students enrolled in a homeschool or a private school that is located within the boundaries of an independent school district.

Ferris ISD is committed to providing quality special education services to every child with a disability who resides in our district or who attends a private or home school in our district. If you have a child aged 3 through 21 and suspect your child has a disability, please contact the Ferris ISD Department of Special Populations. We will work with you in determining if your child meets federal and state guidelines as a child with a disability.

If your child is determined to be a child with a disability, we will work with you in developing appropriate special education services designed to meet your child’s educational needs as a student enrolled in Ferris ISD. If you choose not to enroll your student in Ferris ISD, we can discuss the services that are available through our current District Private School Plan and take suggestions about services you would like to have considered for homeschool and private school students . All our services are available free of charge.

If you would like to request an initial evaluation of your child, a reevaluation of your child who was previously identified as a student with a disability under special education, or have questions or suggestions about services you would like to have considered for homeschool and private school students, please call the Special Population’s office at 972-544-3858.
