Enrollment/Registration

Pre-Kindergarten eligibility requirements:

Is your child going to be 4 years old by September 1? They may qualify for FISD’s Pre-K program. In order to get into Pre-K, your child needs to meet only one of the following requirements:

• Does not speak or understand English
• Is eligible for the Free or Reduced–Price Lunch Program
• Is homeless
• Has a parent that is active duty military or active duty reserve
• Is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing
• Has a parent that was an active duty member of the armed forces, state military forces or reserve component who was injured or killed while serving on active duty
• Is a child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award

Documents you will need to present:

• Your child’s birth certificate
• Proof of Address (gas, water or electric bill; or Military Housing Orders) 
• Your child’s immunization record 
• Your child’s Social Security card*
• Parent/Guardian ID

* (If your child does not have a Social Security Card, they can still enroll)

In the military? If you are enrolling your child using the military criteria, you will need to also provide:

• A DOD photo ID for the child
• A copy of the State of Service Form or a copy of the death certificate
• A copy of the Purple Heart orders or a copy of the Line of Duty Determination documentation
• A copy of appropriate documentation for the service member who is missing in action
• A letter from the Department of Family and Protective Services indicating conservatorship

If your student qualifies for Pre-K, they will be eligible for the entire school year.

Do not submit fake documents. It is against the law, and could make your child ineligible for our programs.

1. Log into Skyward's Student and Family Access to be directed to the Parent Portal login screen.
2. Once logged in, if you would like to see your Family Access in Spanish, go up to the top right corner of your screen under Contact Us and click Select Language from the drop-down bar. Select Spanish to view all text in the Spanish language.
3. Now look at the home screen. You will see notifications that Online Returning Student Registration is now open for your students.
4. Click on the Online Registration link or the box on the left-side bar to begin.
5. Start at Step 1. Verify Student Information, make any necessary changes, click Complete and move to next step.
6. Once a step is complete, you will see a green check mark on the list on the right side of your screen. If you do not have a green checkmark on all steps, you will not be able to submit your registration.
   If you do not have a Skyward Family Access username or password, please call 972-544-3858 ext. 1803 or email familyaccess@ferrisisd.org. If you know your username, but cannot remember your password, click on the “Forgot your Login/Password?” link. A reset link will be sent to the email address we have on file.
7. When all steps are complete, you can click Submit 24-25 Online Returning Student Registration.

If you have questions or need assistance, please call 972-544-3858 ext. 1803. Our Central Registration office will be open all summer long, Monday through Thursday from 8AM-4PM to answer calls and emails, assign usernames and passwords and assist with Family Access. Computers are available for families that need internet access or assistance with registration.
