ESSER II
The ESSER II grant program was authorized in the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA), signed into law in December 2020. The intent and purpose of the CRRSA Act of 2021, ESSER II funding is to prevent, prepare for, or respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, including its impact on the social, emotional, mental health, and academic needs of students.
On August 10, 2021, Ferris ISD applied for and received a total ESSER II allocation of $1,699,635. These funds are supplemental and will be used to prevent, prepare for, or respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, including its impact on the social, emotional, mental health, and academic needs of students.
As part of the application process, Ferris ISD solicited stakeholder input through a survey/request for public comment and opportunity for discussion before the Ferris ISD Board of Trustees. Any feedback or input received from local stakeholders was considered in the development of the District's ESSER II plan for these funds.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO APPLY FOR FEDERAL FUNDS AND REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT
Ferris ISD wishes to announce the District's intent to make application for federal funds appropriated to the State of Texas for public education purposes under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief II (ESSER II) Fund. The District requests public comment on the application and tentative plans for use of the funds.
ESSER II funds:
$1,699,635 (estimate prior to State of Texas Hold Harmless reduction) To be expended over a 3-year period
Purpose:
To prevent, prepare for, or respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, including its impact on the social, emotional, mental health, and academic needs of students.
Tentative Plans:
Provide technology devices and associated accessories to students and staff to support virtual/digital learning, provide premium pay and COVID supplements to employees whose duties were directly impacted by the pandemic, provide Internet services to teachers for the purposes of virtual/digital instruction, provide devices to improve air quality and reduce the likelihood of viral transmission within FISD facilities, and provide supplemental training for staff members to ensure their ability to effectively address learning loss and student needs as outlined in the program purpose above. Funds will be used over a 3-year period.
